An Atlanta Visits The Island: Fish Tacos, Stop 4

Coconuts Fish Cafe: Kihei, Maui, HI, USA

I’ve had a lot of fish tacos, from New York to San Francisco, then down to the infamous San Diego.  However, I have definitely found what I consider to be the best fish tacos at least in the western half of the USA.  I came here on a solo hike to try and just explore Kihei on my own.  Thankfully I found that Coconuts Fish Cafe was about a 1.5 mile walk from my friend’s house.  It was ridiculous hot but these fish tacos were more than worth it.

Fish tacos:
PROS
– abundant amount of fish fillet
– not overly greasy
– nice balance between slaw, fruit and seafood
– best part: The double layer of tortilla with one grilled so that it’s crispy and won’t break through (GENIUS!)

CONS:
-none

Coconut Shrimp
PROS
– great amount of shrimp
– not greasy
– good ratio/proportion of batter to shrimp (not overly thick)

CONS
– none

I would definitely come here again.  There is usually ample seating, and the staff is more than helpful.  They were super nice and checked in on me multiple times.  Definitely the aloha way! Mahalo for such a warm and comforting experience!  You can find them S. Kihei, here:
