Liang’s Village: Cupertino, CA, USA
I have been craving Taiwanese food for a long time, especially since it is relatively hard to find on the east coast. Each trip down to LA was a disappointment because it takes quite a drive to get there. Thankfully, I was able to find this gem of a restaurant due to a recommendation from a friend and a gal pal of mine who was willing to come with me to eat! We went all out when we got here:
Beef Noodle Soup:
PROS:
– authentic! I can’t say how close to authentic this is.
– good chunks of meat that were soft and falling apart in my mouth
– good quantity, definitely worth sharing to get other things
– not too salty
CONS:
– none
Beef Pancake:
PROS:
– HUGE quantity: enough for lunch in and of itself as a small eater
– savory, not too greasy
– soft and yet crispy pancake
CONS:
– when getting it takeaway, make sure that you leave the box open otherwise the pancake itself gets soggy
Chicken Rice
PROS:
– again, great quantity
– savory rice that was consistent with that of the Hainanese chicken rice I grew up with
CONS:
– chicken was WAY too dry, we had to dip it in the sauce and even then it was still really hard to eat
Cucumber Salad
PROS:
– nice quantity for a side-dish
– not overly seasoned
– very refreshing
CONS:
– none
There was a little bit of a wait since we didn’t get there right when it opened. This place is POPPING but the food is definitely worth it. I would definitely wait for the food here. They have a great drinks selection: I tried the pineapple seasonal drink which has traditional pineapple cake topping on the foam. It was so worth renting a zipcar and driving down for this food. Not to mention, there’s a Daiso in the same plaza so you can go there if the wait is longer than you’d like to spend. In summary:
- beef noodle soup: ***.85 (3.85 stars)
- beef pancake: ***.85 (3.85 stars)
- chicken rice: ***.65 (3.65 stars)
- cucumber salad: ***.85 (3.85 stars)

Definitely make the drive! It’s totally worth it if you’re in the Bay!
