Pink Elephant Alibi: SOMA, San Francisco, CA USA
I came here for a friend’s birthday brunch celebration and was super hooked. First of all, the beats! Whoever hired the DJ needs to get a promotion and the DJ needs to get one too! There is nothing like having some old school hip-hop (and new hip hop) to kick off a good Saturday morning. As I am a light-weight, I can’t speak for the bottomless mimosas but the one that I had was super delicious. I like being able to pick from numerous flavors, and I can see how this can be dangerous for a lot of people – an hour into brunch, a friend reported that when she went into the bathroom, she saw a bunch of girls whose food were coming back up and out during their bachelorette celebration. I apologize for the poor clarity in the photos, it wasn’t the best lit place.
Brunch was pretty legit. Things I ordered included:
Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict
PROS:
– great quantity
– nice balance between protein and veggies
– good amount of smoked salmon: I really love a place who is not stingy with their portions
CONS:
-none
Maple Pork Belly Bacon: okay this was by far one the best pork belly that I’ve had ever. Bacon I mean, BACON!
PROS:
– well flavored and equal balance between the maple syrup sweetness and the smoky saltiness of the pork belly bacon meat
– not overly burnt
– good flavor
CONS:
– slightly dry in some parts
Service: On point. I can’t say more. Mimosas are self-served as is water.
Would I come back? Definitely. In summary:
- Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict: ***.85 (3.85 stars)
- Maple Pork Belly Bacon: **** (4 stars)
You can find them in SOMA near downtown San Francisco. If you have access to YELP, you can make reservations on there. Reservations have to have all members present or they will drop your ass. I was vehemently reminded to show up and show up on time too! Definitely worth it though! Check them out here!

My apologies for the lack of blogging. Work has been pretty insane for the past three months since a colleague of mine randomly quit one of my departments back in December. I’m actually currently blogging from Incheon, Korea while on vacation. It’s probably one of the few times that I get to actually blog, even on the weekends. If you’re still a reader, thanks so much for keeping up to date. I hope to get better at this once work settles down a bit. At some point, I hope to also be able to start a travel section and be able to start referencing my trips as well. Thanks again and see you soon!
Bon Apetit!
